Art Otte
Logo Re-design
I re-designed the logo for <Art Otte>, which is a space for children to experience and interact with art. The above image was the original logo, which looks formal and serious due to the colour combination and font. To better capture the spirit of the space being for children, I used bright colours and added elements from origami to create a logo that was more lively and playful. I also added the face of Art Otte’s CEO, Youngman Kim, an instantly recognizable figure who embodies the character and identity of <Art Otte>, to differentiate the brand.
Youngman Kim became famous by teaching origami on a TV show for children in the 1990s. A lot of colored paper sets and art stationery were released with his name and photos. If there was Bob Ross who led the popularization of art in the United States, it is no exaggeration to say that Youngman Kim held a similar status for origami in Korea. He recently became famous again through TV appearances.
Thus, <Art Otte> can benefit from having the image of Youngman, as it can evoke nostalgia for parents who grew up with Youngman’s shows, and take advantage of Youngman as an established, well-made brand.
